(January 3, 1926 – May 11, 1994)
Daniel Dorsey Overbea, born in Philadelphia, was an American rhythm and blues singer, guitarist and songwriter.
Danny was also a great showman who plays the guitar with his teeth, behind his back, lying down, ten years after T-Bone Walker who originated many of the routines. Wounded in the knee during his military service in Europe in World War II, which didn’t stop him from dancing on stage.
For several years, Overbea participated in several national R&B tours, notably with Count Basie, Dinah Washington, Cootie William, Les Moonglows and appeared in the famous television programs of Alan Freed.
He made his last recordings in 1959, then he continued to perform in clubs until the end of the sixties, when he then decided to earn his living in another way.
Far too underestimated, he died in Chicago at the age of 68.
